In the current field of dust particle PM2.5 detection, PM2.5 sensor mainly uses two kinds of dust sensors: infrared PM2.5 sensor and laser dust sensor.

1. Structure and principle analysis of infrared PM2.5 sensor and laser dust sensor

The structure and circuit of infrared PM2.5 sensor are relatively simple. Its light source is infrared LED light source. The air inlet and outlet are mainly heated by resistance to obtain hot air flow. There are particles passing through, i.e. high level output, and the output signal is PWM type.

The structure and circuit of laser dust sensor are relatively complex. The light source is a laser diode. Sampled air is driven by fans or blowers and tested through complex designed ducts. When fine particulate matter in the air enters the region where the laser beam is located, it will scatter the laser. The scattered light radiates at 360 degrees in space. We place photoelectric detectors at appropriate locations to receive only scattered light.Then the current signal is generated by the photoelectric effect of the photodetector. After amplification and treatment of the circuit, the concentration of fine particles can be obtained. The output signal is usually serial output.

Infrared PM2.5 sensor is mainly used for industrial and mining dust. The object of detection is large particle size and high concentration dust. The detection level is mg/m3, so the concentration of PM2.5 can not be accurately measured. Laser dust sensor is mainly used in PM2.5 detection field to quantify PM2.5 quality with accuracy. It can be embedded in household (car-mounted, hand-held) air detector and air purifier. In addition, laser principle sensors are also used in data acquisition, environmental quality detection and other fields of the Internet of Things.

Infrared PM2.5 sensor and laser dust sensor have their own advantages, so there is no exact PM2.5 sensor. It depends on the customer's needs (such as cost requirements, accuracy, signal output, application site, related particulate matter to be tested) to choose the appropriate detector.
